New Central Zionist Archives procedures; visitor reception in light of the COVID-19 limitations.

Starting May 17th, 2020, the Reading Room is open to the public following the restrictions and the adjustments required by the "purple regulations."

Operating hours of the Reading Room are:

Sunday-Thursday from 8 am to 3 pm.

Admittance to the Reading Room is divided into two shifts:

First shift: 08:00 a.m. - 11:15 p.m.

Break to disinfect the workstations and computers

Second shift: 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

 

Coordinating a visit

  • Visits to the Archives are possible on advance registration only according to the shifts mentioned above. Registration can be made by email only: cza@wzo.org.il. The applicant receives a confirmation by email if the requested shift is available. Multiple sign up for two consecutive shifts on the same day is possible, but not for more than two days within a week and according to availability.
  • The number of visitors is limited to eight visitors at any given moment.
  • Admission and stay in the Reading Room is limited to the shift\shifts, coordinated in advance. Visitors are requested to update the CZA if he/she is unable to arrive at the CZA for the requested shift.
  • Visitors who arrive without registration and prior authorization are not permitted to enter the CZA building.
  • Working in groups is currently not allowed at the Reading Room.
  • Visitors who arrive without a mask and gloves are not permitted to enter the building.

 

Visitor arrival to the CZA building

  • Entry to the CZA is through the temporary entrance by following the signs.
  • Upon entering, the visitors' temperature will be taken, and he\she will be asked to sign a health statement.
  • Each visitor is escorted by the security guard to the Reading Room floor.
  • Each visitor is asked to deposit his/her belongings in the storage compartments before entering the Reading Room.
  • The hot\cold drink station is not available. Each visitor is responsible for his/her own food and drink.

 

Reading Room services

  • There are no changes in ordering material from the storage rooms.
  • Visitors can order in advance (a day or two before the visit) up to seven items for review during his/her visit (exact notation is necessary to order the material). Requests must be sent through "Contact us" on the CZA website.
  • Photocopying and scanning services are available as usual.

 

Reading Room work procedures

  • Face masks and gloves are required to be worn during the entire stay of the visitor in the Reading Room.
  • Visitors must take care to collect and return the material ordered to the return counter. A visitor can request to store items for an upcoming visit (for a maximum of 14 days).
  • Currently, the use of the private rooms in the Reading Room is not permitted.
  • Disinfectants are available to visitors.
  • ​The CZA is committed to taking care of cleaning and disinfecting computers and work stations between shifts and at the end of each workday.
