The Archives building and its surroundings are undergoing renovations. The reading room of the Central Zionist Archives is open to the public in its temporary residence in the International Convention Center (ICC, Binyanei HaUma) and will operate in a limited format and with advanced registration only.
Operating hours of the Reading Room
As of December 16, 2021, the reading room will operate Sunday-Wednesday from
8:00 AM to 15:00 PM.
For your convenience, we added new workstations to the existing ones.
Admittance to the Reading Room will be in two shifts:
First shift: 8:00 – 11:30
Second shift: 11:30 – 15:00
Coordinating a visit & ordering files
Visits to the Archives are
possible upon advance registration only according to the shift hours mentioned
above. Requested file notations should be ordered at
least two weeks before arrival. Registration can be made by email
only: cza@wzo.org.il
- The applicant should state over the mail dates on which he wishes to visit - on the days of activity of the reading room.
- Multiple sign-up for two
consecutive shifts on the same day is possible (First shift: 8:00-11:30, Second shift: 11:30-15:00), but no more than two days
within a week and according to availability.
- The applicant will receive an
e-mail confirmation regarding the availability of shifts
- It is possible to order up to
28 files for each visit. The list of the file notations should be sent by email
at least a week in advance: cza@wzo.org.il. It
will not be possible to order additional files on the day of your visit.
- Working in groups or coming with an escort is currently prohibited in the Reading Room.
- Visitors are requested to update the CZA if he\she is unable to arrive at the
CZA for the requested shift to allow other visitors to sign up for that shift.
- The
CZA's temporary offices are in ICC, Binyanei HaUma, where various events
are held, and sometimes loud music is played. Noise disturbances should be
taken into account when visiting the reading room.
Please note that the CZA building is undergoing extensive renovation. The Archives’ staff will make every effort to allow researchers access to archival material, but some collections may not be accessible temporarily according to the progress in construction work. In the coming months it will not be possible to order books, newspapers and magazines.
Requests for scanned material
The Archives continues to give remote services, such as scanning of material. This service might take longer than is expected and depends on the availability of the collections.
Directions
The temporary reading room and offices are located on the fifth floor of the office complex of Binyanei HaUma. The entrance to the office complex is located at the back of the building near the ramp. Visitors will be directed to the Archives offices and reading room at the security checkpoint.
Entrance to the building will be subject to instructions and security arrangements of the ICC.
Please note that the entrance through "Jump" parking lot has been canceled.
A
visitor carrying a weapon must notify the Archives representative in advance.
In
addition, a firearms license and ID card must be presented at the security
checkpoint before entering the Archives.

Arrival by public transport
Due to construction work in the area, it is recommended to arrive by public transport to the ICC. Visitors coming from the Central Bus Station: please cross Jaffa Street and Zalman Shazar Boulevard to get to the ICC buildings.
Arrival by private car
It is possible to park in the parking lot of the ICC for a fee. The site has accessible parking for the disabled. The Entrance to the parking lot is via the Sixth President Boulevard according to the signs.
It is possible to park in Cinema City (about 10 minutes walk from the ICC).
