Preparing Your Visit

Efficient use of archival material requires previous knowledge, experience, and sometimes even a detective flair.

A researcher interested in a certain subject must ask himself which institutions or personalities were related to this subject, and then verify if there is any reference to the desired subject in the archives of those institutions and personalities. Therefore, it is recommended that you come to the Archives after studying the subject in books, articles, on the Internet, and from other sources. In addition, the archivists at the CZA are available to users and researchers for advice and guidance.
To conduct a genealogical research, see Family research.
