The First Aliyah started on 1881 and continued until 1904. Among the new arrivals to Palestine were Eliezer Ben-Yehuda and his wife Dvora.
Large-scale Jewish settlement began in September 1921 in the Jezreel Valley. Until the end of the decade, 23 settlements had been established.
The struggle for establishing a Jewish fighting force is finally successful: the British government announces the establishment of a Jewish Brigade Group.
The first railway in Palestine was built in 1892 and connected Jaffa to Jerusalem. This train was one step forward towards progress.
