Beitar movement

Beitar is a youth movement with a rich history that was founded as early as 1923 in Riga, Latvia. The founder was none other than Zeev Zabutinski, one of the founding fathers of the "Revisionist Zionists". The Israeli branch was founded in 1927 and its members took part in the founding of work units and new settlements, and led political and social activities in the spirit of the evolving Zionist ideology.  Among the movement's celebrated members are Menachem Begin, and Yitzhak Shamir, who went on to become Prime ministers in the state of Israel.
