Rosh Hashana

(KRA\1597)

Apple in honey, sounding the shofar, and the entire family gathered for a festive holiday dinner... Rosh Hashana always symbolized a new beginning for the Jewish people, between fellow men and between man and God. In the Jewish tradition, the month of Tishrei marks the beginning of God's reign over humanity, and in the first days of the month man's destiny is deliberated and decided upon by the powers that be. Sounding the shofar is the most important religious duty of the holiday, but the most popular characteristics of Rosh Hashana, no less emblematic for the beginning of the new Jewish year, are the colorful holiday cards. Displayed before you is a short sample of the many ways in which the Jewish people wish each other a happy new year.
