The 1929 disturbances

יהודי תושב חברון עוזב את ביתו שנהרס על ידי הערבים בפרעות תרפ"ט (PHG\1000715)
"The 1929 riots in Palestine. Violent Arab attacks take place throughout Palestine, leaving 133 Jews dead and hundreds wounded. Settlements are abandoned. The Jewish Yishuv and the Jewish world are deeply shocked." (Mordecai Naor, Zionism. The First 120 Years. Timeline, Articles, Documents and Glossary. The Jewish Agency for Israel, The Zionist Library, 2002, p.101).
The handbills and photographs included in the Archives' collections, tell the tale of the storm overcoming the Yishuv in the wake of the violent riots. In addition, the files of the Political Department of the Jewish Agency include vast correspondence regarding these events.
