Library

 
The library of the Central Zionist Archives contains more than 140,000 books and publications in various languages dealing with the history of Zionism and the Zionist Movement since its beginning, and with the history of the Jewish settlement in Palestine and the Land of Israel in modern times. The library also contains extended archival literature professional literature, manuals for libraries and archives, fliers and publications of the Israeli Association of Archives, etc. Similarly, the library holds a large collection of the publications of the National Institutions and all their various branches.
Worth noting are these unique collections found in the Archive's library:
 
·       The Nahum Sokolow  library – about 2,500 books that were part of the private library of the Zionist leader, the journalist and the writer Nahum Sokolow. Among the books can be found religious and philological literature, meditative and philosophical writings and extensive multilingual Zionist literature.
 
·       The Max Bodenheimer library – about 1,700 books and writings (mostly in German) dealing with the history of Zionist leaders and with the history of the Zionist movement in Germany and elsewhere, that were in the possession of the German Zionist leader, Max Bodenheimer.
 
·       The library of the Yosef Weitz Institute for Settlement Research – about 2,000 books and articles dealing with settlement research mainly from the 1960's until today. The library contains, among others, publications and studies about settlements in the various regions of the country in the fields of history, geography, statistics, economics, etc.
 
·        The Anson library – 160 books from the unique collection of Manfred Anson, who was a collector of museum items and books associated with Herzl.
 
Many theses and dissertations are donated annually to the Library of the Archives by researchers who base their studies on archival materials kept at the Zionist Archives.
 
The Library of the Archives is a study library; the books are not lent out.
 
Language of cataloging: The books are catalogued in accordance with the language of the book itself.
 

           
 
The structure of the library
As a rule, the items are catalogued under the code BK and the number of the item.

Or BK\69202 \ג if the publication or book is a large size.
All the books in the Sokolow library have been cataloged with the notation SOK and the item number.

All the books in the Bodenheimer library have been cataloged with the notation BOD and the item number.
