The Central Zionist Archives preserves the registers of immigrants that made aliyah to Palestine/Israel between the years 1919-1974. These registers were previously used by the Relatives Search Bureau of the Jewish Agency. About 200 registers list the names of immigrants (mostly in Hebrew), organized chronologically according to the arrival date of the ships/trains (or immigrants that crossed the Southern or Northern borders by foot). Aside from the name, the age of the immigrant and the birth country is usually also specified.

The registers also list the names of immigrants that arrived as tourists or as returning citizens, and occasionally their religious affiliation. The registers don't supply information on illegal immigrants, but they do include several lists of children that arrived in the framework of Youth Aliyah.

The series of registers cataloged in the Central Zionist Archives was incomplete, and in 2006 the CZA and the Israel State Archives initiated a joint project to scan and photocopy all the lists in order to create one data base of these valuable materials.

Access to the registers
The access to the registers is unrestricted but is not possible via this site. The staff of the Family Research Department can facilitate the search process, but in order to do so, certain elementary information is needed such as the date of arrival (at least the month and the year).

The general public can access the scanned registers available in the library of The Central Zionist Archives, upon request. (A scanned copy is available in the state archives as well).
